A thorough vacuuming and deep steam cleaning is the only effective way to clean your carpet and keep it looking great over time.

_____________________

Ask Shaw Industries, one of the largest carpet manufacturers in the world, what they have to say:

“Choosing the proper cleaning system is important. Some systems may leave residues which accelerate re-soiling and defeats the whole purpose of cleaning.”

“Research indicates that the hot water extraction system provides the best capability for cleaning. This system is commonly referred to as “steam cleaning,” although no steam is actually generated. The process consists of applying a cleaning agent into the carpet pile and using water in the extractor to recover the used solution and soil. This can be done from a truck-mounted unit outside the home with only the hose and wand brought inside or by a portable system brought into the home.”

“In addition to frequent vacuuming, its important to clean your carpet on a regular basis. Cleaning systems will remove the oily, sticky soil that vacuums can’t take out, and will help keep your carpet looking great over time. ”

“Carpet in a typical household should be cleaned every 12 to 18 months, depending on the number of residents and amount of activity.”

“Professional carpet cleaners are a great choice for your floor. Their cleaning equipment has more extraction power than the rental units available to individuals, and the carpet should dry more quickly. True professionals also understand the equipment, know the proper cleaning agents for the situation at hand, and recognize the differences in fibers and carpet construction. ”

WATER

Water Damage Process
1.	Inspection and Assessment
2.	Water Removal
3.	Anti-microbial Application
4.	Drying: Air Movement
5.	Drying: Dehumidifying
6.	Drying: Monitoring

Drying Carpet

A primary concern of water damage in a home or business is the effect it will have on the carpet or flooring. ServiceMaster Professionals provides on-site carpet, tile, and hardwood floor drying.

A number of things must be considered when drying flooring in a home or office. First, the age and condition of the carpet is taken into account, because in some cases, it can be more cost effective to replace the carpet than to restore it. Your ServiceMaster Professionals technician will advise you and help determine the value of your carpeting. Second, the length of time the carpet was exposed to water must be considered. Most types of carpet can resist water for up to three days, but the sooner the water damage is addressed, the better. Third, the type of water effecting the carpet will affect the restoration process. We categorize water in three ways: Clean Water, Grey Water, and Black Water. Clean water comes from a clean source and has no debris. Grey water is not clean, but it is also not hazardous (i.e. dishwasher, washing machine overflow). Black water is sewage backup or runoff water, both of which are hazardous and must be handled with caution. Finally, the temperature of the water is taken into account. For example, hot water can affect the glue that holds the carpet fibers together. Again, our technicians will guide you through this process and help to determine what course of action needs to be taken in your specific situation.

Drying Hardwood Floors

When drying hardwood floors, the process is critical. Hardwood flooring is very sensitive and must be handled with care. Hardwood naturally holds some water (up to 10%), but an additional 5-10% can be absorbed without any visible effects. Once the flooring is filled to capacity, however, the wood will begin to expand, causing cupping or crowning. Both are extremely difficult to restore, therefore it is essential to get the water cleared and the drying initiated as soon as possible after a loss.

FIRE & SMOKE

Fire and Smoke Restoration
1.	Emergency Pre-Cleaning
2.	Content Cleaning
3.	Content Pack-Out
4.	Wall and Ceiling Cleaning
5.	Deodorization
